R.M. Hinson papers, 1861.

Hinson's letters to his wife, Mattie, of Bastrop, Morehouse Parish, describe scenery along the line of march from Van Buren, Arkansas, to Maysville, Missouri, and military events under the leadership of Colonel Hyams and General McCulloch. A military pass issued to Hinson is also present.

R. M. Hinson was a Confederate Captain in Company B (Morehouse Guards), 3rd Louisiana Infantry Regiment. The Regiment was under the leadership of Colonel Samuel M. Hyams and General Ben McCulloch.
